370bhp, Tamed & Under Control - Round 1, 31st March 2001
Britain's First Lady in rallying showed her natural motorsport talent by storming her first race to a third position at her home circuit of Silverstone.

Daventry based Armstrong, 35, began 7th on the grid in wet conditions and achieved an outstanding podium position in ther first ever competition race, with only hours of experience in her Parr Motorsport prepared Porsche 911 GT3.

Barbara's rally experience meant she was more than at home with the wet and slippery conditions and so was one of the only people at Silverstone who was delighted whtn the heavens opened and the slicks were removed.

Getting to grips with race discipline and a brand new car was something Barbara seemed to grasp very quickly. "I've never driven a Porsche before and I've never raced before so I'm shocked, I hope it rains again tommorrow!" she said.

Barbara will begin 3rd on the grid for the second day of racing at Silverstone tommorrow, and is hoping to add to her 13 points she has already scored for her team.
